Common Tax Questions
How long should I keep my tax records?
The IRS recommends keeping most tax records for at least 7 years. Some documents, like those related to property need to be kept longer.
What's the difference between a tax credit and a tax deduction?
A tax deduction reduces your taxable income, while a tax credit directly reduces the amount of tax you owe, dollar-for-dollar.
What if I can't pay the taxes I owe?
You should still file your return on time and pay as much as you can. You can contact the IRS to discuss payment options. **Please note that an extension is not an extension of time to pay, IRS still wants the payment timely.
Can you help if I haven't filed taxes for several years?
Yes, we can file multiple years of back taxes. We can obtain transcripts from the IRS using a Power of Attorney to determine past filing requirements and income information. This service does require an advance payment or retainer.
